KCDI is registered NGO under the Company Act of Jamaica 2007 and is also endorsed by the Ministry of Education. KCDI offers Farm Management and Community Development Training to local and regional small farmers and urban and rural communities.
KCDI has been accepted as a member of StEP. StEP. is an initiative of various UN organizations with the overall aim to solve the e-waste problem. Together with prominent members from industry, governments, international organizations, NGOs and academia actively participating in StEP, we initiate and facilitate approaches towards the sustainable handling of e-waste. In five Task Forces feasible, just and environmentally safe solutions for the e-waste problem are developed through analysis, planning and pilot-projects. KCDI has collaborated with the Ministry of Housing Water and Environment on a pilot project which should commence December 2011 to address the vast amount of Electronic Waste (Computers ,Cell phone ect) our membership in StEP will allow us access to Best Practices documents and technology from most of the world corporate companies which will aid Jamaica in addressing our e-waste challenges.
