1948 London Men's 400 metres
Arthur Wint was Jamaica's first Olympic gold medalist. In addition to taking the 400m gold in London, he was a part of the world record setting 400 m relay team at the following Olympics in Helsinki. Dr. Wint later went on the become Jamaica's High Commisioner to the United Kingdom, and her Ambassador to Sweden and Denmark.
